A place for you to discuss about Japanese as a language, be it questions about grammar, post useful websites or books for studying, or to share your experiences with it. If you are new to Japanese, the following links may help you: Hiragana: Japanese @ about.comKatakana: Japanese @ about.comGrammar: Tae Kim's Guide to Japanese GrammarJapanese-English-Japanese dictionary: Jisho.orgHow to install Japanese language support: XP || VistaHappy learning! EDIT: I put "laugh" as the topic icon, why is there a pirate there instead

I'm currently learning Japanese with the Japanese Rosetta stone, my little Lonely Planet book, and a 15 mins a day Japanese book + DVD, hahaha. I was doing well, need to get back on it.

^Hopefully! Hahaha. The good thing about having all 3 is they each explain things that another one doesn't. Rosetta stone is good for the memory because it doesn't use English at all, just pictures and the Japanese words to show you what they mean, but because it doesn't explain some bits about grammar, thats what my Lonely Planet book is really great at, so it's good to learn from all 3.

that does sound good CL. ive tried 3 books/dvds and i kinda got over the books really quick. The dvd wasnt as bad though, just as dull as the first episode of pokemon.Would it have killed them to make it colourful and fun ? just a white background with text and a voice over who acted like it was home time over 3 hours ago. Ive heard 'Genki' is good and so is 'Japanese for busy people'.
